Today I was driving to San Jose from El Cerrito. As I was moving VERY slowly in the "fast lane", I was watching the carpool lane move much faster than me. Out of boredom, more than anything else, I decided to count the number of drivers in the diamond lane that were breaking the carpool laws. 44 of 100 people driving in the carpool lane were doing so illegally. Just an observation.

The wheels on the wagon go round and round . . . round and round

I had a dream last night, which placed my friends, Peter and Jimmy, and I working together for some unidentified organization. The bizarre, winding dream eventually dropped the three of us on a yellow school bus returning from a weekend work conference. We stood on the bus reviewing festivities from the night before. Finally our friend Rob came up in the discussion and I said, with surprise, "Rob was here last night?" "Of course," Peter and Jimmy answered in unison as they pointed to the front of the bus. To my surprise Big Baby Bell had taken on a career as a bus driver.

What happened to med school, Rob? You've changed . . . you showed such promise. While you're up there, can I get a toot toot? Or possibly a beep beep?

Went to the Gift of Gab/ Lateef the Truth Speaker show at the DNA Lounge last night. I've seen Gift of Gab several times now and always enjoy his gigs. Mike Relm opened and came correct. His opening line was "if you want to get your ass blown, stay in the room." I don't know about my ass but Relm blew my mind. His mixed media performance included a video show to compliment his well-crafted track selection. To say the very least, Mike Relm knows his audience. Every movie clip, song sample and message he spun hit the middle of the crowd's pop culture radar screen. I still can't get his mix of the Stones' "Satisfaction" out of my head. He made me think for a minute that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards had written the tune with a hip-hop beat. His finish with John Lennon's "Imagine" was beautiful. Only one word can sum up Mike Relm for me: RADICAL.
